Day Scholar Inauguration Ceremoney, Faculty of Medicine - Intake 39

The inauguration ceremony for Day Scholars of Intake 39 of the Faculty of Medicine (FOM) was held on 20th January 2022 at 9000 hrs at the Auditorium, FGS, KDU, Ratmalana. Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, academic and administrative staff members, relevant military officers and parents of the newly enrolled Day Scholars also took part in the event.

The civilian students enrolled under the foreign category to study medicine (50 students) and especially, the students enrolled through the University Grants Commission (UGC) to study medicine (87 students) at KDU were warmly welcomed to the University today. This is the first time KDU received a batch of students from the UGC to study a degree programme at KDU which is a remarkable achievement of the entire University history. This initiative is an immense opportunity given to those qualified students to study medicine in a Sri Lankan University without searching for the opportunities outside the country.  

The event was held adhering to all the health guidelines as a measure taken to minimize the spread of COVID 19.
